A FATHERLY VISIT TO THE BISHOP ON THE NIGER.

I, alongside the Mayor of Idemili South, Hon. Mrs Amaka Obi (Iyom Ifeabata), paid a visit to the Bishop of the Diocese on the Niger, Rt. Revd. Dr Owen Nwokolo, at the All Saints’ Cathedral, Onitsha, today.

Bishop Nwokolo is a shepherd whom I hold in very high regard. Beyond his distinguished service to the Church and the people of God, he is also a proud son of my hometown, Nnobi, which made today’s visit particularly meaningful.

We shared in the joy of the successful local government election and the victory that followed for our people in Idemili South. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the responsibility that comes with the mandate entrusted to us by our people and the need to continue to serve with humility and integrity.

The Bishop received us warmly alongside his dear wife, Dr Elsie Nwokolo. He prayed for us and asked God to grant us the grace and strength to continue impacting positively on the lives of our people in Idemili South and beyond.

I am deeply grateful to our dear Bishop for the fatherly welcome accorded to us, his prayers, and, especially, his valuable counsel and words of wisdom. His advice is a timely reminder that leadership is ultimately about service and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we have been called to serve.

May God continue to bless Rt. Revd. Dr Owen Nwokolo and Dr Elsie Nwokolo, strengthen them in their service, and continue to use them as instruments of blessing to our people and society.

Indeed, Idemili South is rising from the grassroots to greatness.
